SIRENA DEI MARI DELLA LUNA
Mermaid of the Moon Seas
Oh, nobly born, you who are the sons and daughters of the awakened ones, remember who you really are… and thus it is told that long ago when you were very much younger then you are now, when I was a man of adventure, a very wealthy and powerful man of low standing built a great ship. I stole it for he did not deserve such a fine vessel and with the help of the crew, who were relieved to be free of the old man’s greed, and the whipping wind filling our sails on the full moon we left this earth and sailed on for the oceans of the moon. Landing as it were or as it can be told like a feather on the Sea Moon Tranquillitatis. All around in still cold space grew a sound out of the emptiness, folded over and over upon itself sharpening, a siren’s song dripping like melted butter, “the rain came and washed away the winter”. Sailing into song with such urgency and disregard the ship made no sound the crew stunned silent, at length we came upon a small raft adrift in the Sea That Has Become Known, inhabited by a woman of such beauty she cannot be described… Saraswati, Kali Ma, Vajrayogini… Sarah (Red Tara) … dark hair and eyes. “If no one knows than there is no answer” she strummed her guitar and sang the words into my soul, I fell in love… Regaining my senses from my breast pocket I grabbed my book and pencil and sat while the earth rose and fell over the horizon behind her and drew, light rays like sun beams shot forth so brightly that even Sariputra, the All-Seeing One, had to turn away. She sang we exchanged thoughts and the illumination was as bright as a diamond candle and I drew and we exchanged minds and she sang and I drew and there was a great silence as vast as the universe that contains everything and I drew we exchanged bodies and she sang and I arose as her and she arose as me and so on back and forth for a hundred thousand hundred thousand kalpas. This was how we made love on the oceans of the moon, but then just as quickly as it happened it was over and I was older and she was gone…
I still have my book, La Sirena dei Mari Della Luna and still hear her song…
